Christian Abbiati was born on July 8, 1977 in Abbiategrasso, Milan, Italy. This Italian player plays in the goalkeeper’s position.

Abbiati started his football career at the age of 13 with Trezzano and Assago. Then he moved to Corsico and finally in 1996 he was bought by Monza. He was then bought by AC Milan in the summer of 1998. His debut with AC Milan in Serie A occurred on January 17, 1999 in the 92nd minute as a replacement for Sebastiano Rossi. After that he became Milan’s main goalkeeper for 4 years, before being displaced by Dida at the start of the 2002-2003 season.

At the start of the 2005-2006 season, Abbiati was loaned to Genoa. But immediately returned to Milan after Genoa were relegated to Serie C1 because of the match-fixing scandal. He was then loaned to Juventus to become a temporary replacement from goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, who was injured while competing in the Luigi Berlusconi Trophy against Milan in August 2005. Hope continues to be a core player finally fading after Buffon recovered 6 months later.

In July 2006, Abbiati was loaned again to Torino F.C. Although he wanted to stay at Torino for the following season, Torino failed to recruit him because of salary problems. He was loaned again, this time to Atletico Madrid until June 2008. Despite wanting to stay, in the 2008-2009 season, he returned to Milan and took the position of main goalkeeper from Zeljko Kalac.

Abbiati got the first call on the Italian national team as the third goalkeeper in the 2000 European Cup. But his first debut took place against Switzerland on April 30, 2003.
