Gianluigi Donnarumma must stay at AC Milan, according to former Rossoneri goalkeeper Christian Abbiati.
Rumors about Donnarumma’s future are expected to continue to blow this week, after his agent, Mino Raiola, told Milan that his client will not renew his contract, which will expire in 2018.
The news had provoked the anger of supporters, who accused Raiola of influencing 18-year-old players to reject the fashion city club for the sake of lure contracts with greater value in other teams.
Donnarumma himself has just returned from the task of defending the Italian national team at Euro U-21 and some reports say he has changed his mind, and is ready to tie a new contract at the club.
Abbiati, who was recently appointed as club manager, said on TMW Radio: “The door is still open for him. He has not yet been determined to leave.”
“Milan are waiting for him with open arms, and as a friend of Gigio, I hope there will be a happy ending.”
“Donnarumma still has a lot of room to grow and he can still be better in all areas, because he is truly professional. I know he wants to continue to grow day by day.”
